The shoreline at Pointe-au-Pic is home to an astonishing variety of rocks and minerals, each bearing witness to a geological history hundreds of millions of years in the making. During this family-friendly activity, your mission is to find all 15 rocks featured in the challenge!
Turn a stroll along the St. Lawrence River into an exciting geological treasure hunt, where children and adults alike become explorers for the day.
How the Activity Works
Explore the Pointe-au-Pic shoreline with one of our guides as you take on the 15 Rocks Challenge! Search for granite, anorthosite, quartzite, limestone and many other rocks that tell the story of Charlevoix’s remarkable geological past.
As you make your discoveries, your guide will help identify each rock and explain how meteorite impacts, mountain-building, glaciers and the St. Lawrence River shaped one of Québec’s most fascinating landscapes.

Where to meet : Parc du Havre, La Malbaie
Activity period : June 27 to August 16, 2026
Physical level : Easy
This activity takes place on the shoreline and is offered only during low tide. Participants should dress appropriately for the weather and wear comfortable footwear suitable for walking on uneven or occasionally wet surfaces.
Duration approximately 2 hours.
Schedule: Offered almost daily, depending on the low-tide schedule and tide height
Ages 14 and over: 10$ + tax
